Looking Outward: Archival Research as Community Engagement

This article examines archival recovery work as community engagement, illustrating how recovered artifacts can serve as part of the creative process. It also analyzes the potential recovery work as community engagement holds for creating a new form of literacy – communal literacy – through the description of a community-based project centered on recovered archival material from the Nebraska women’s suffrage movement.
